METRO HAVE REPORTED that professional tennis player Serena Williams has been induced in St. Mary’s Medical Centre in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Serena announced her pregnancy in April. She will be having her first child with fiance and co-founder of Reddit Alexis Ohanian.

For security reasons and to keep the birth private, the entire hospital floor has reportedly been cleared for the 35-year-old. While recently discussing her birthing plan, Williams said:

I’m not a spring chicken, the one thing I really want is an epidural, which I know a lot of people are against, but I’ve had surgeries galore and I don’t need to experience any more pain if I can avoid it.

She told the Telegraph that she’s looking forward to becoming a mother and getting back to the tennis court.

Speaking to Vogue, Serena was speculating that her child was going to be a girl.

Two weeks after we found out, I played the Australian Open. I was playing in 100-degree weather, and that baby never gave me any trouble. Ride or die. Women are tough that way.

Sure, we’ll know soon enough.
